To load POOL, simply enter: LOAD"" — then hit the ENTER key and follow the computer's prompts. Leave the tape running until the game starts up automatically. THE GAME POOL is an adoption of the popular table game. There is a cue ball and six numbered object balls. One or two people can play, the aim of the game being to pot the object balls by controlling the speed and direction of the cue boll. The game calls for skill and judgement, rather than fast reactions. GAME CONTROL Five keys are used to control the game: Cursor Arrow Keys — Move cursor up/down/left/right S — Shoot the cueball towards the cursor When the S key is pressed, the cueball will move towards the cursor. The power of the shot can be controlled by coordinating it with the rising and falling bar indicator at the top left. Points are scored for balls successfully potted — ten times the number on the ball. The frame will reset when all balls are potted. The numbers at the top of the screen give the score for each player, the number of 'lives' remaining and the number of consecutive misses. Three consecutive missed pots loses a life. You start the game with three lives. Potting the cueball also loses a life. The frame will reset if the cueball is potted. In the two player game, play alternates each time a life is lost. If you enjoy this game, look out for other Bug-Byte programs at your local computer shop, branches of BOOTS and W.H. SMITHS, or in our advertising in the computer press and elsewhere. Think you can write a better game than this? We'd love to see it.
