HICKSTED This is a simulation of the show-jumping spectacle at Hickstead. There three different courses. The players are first invited to name the horses and riders. One rider can have more than one horse. The game is addictive particularly when it is played in groups. The girs can demonstrate their skills of horsemanship to their brothers! Options 1. Kempson joystick or keyboard. 2. Number of horses up to 25. 3. Names of riders and horses. 4. Time for each round. 5. Fences numbered or not. 6. Speed you wish to start at. The Game There are 3 rounds. If there are a number of riders with equal faults then they will go into the second round for the jump-off. Similarly if there is no outright winner after the second course has been jumped, then the leading riders will jump the third course. The game is easier if played with the Kempson joystick as faster speeds can be obtained. The game has all the excitement of the show-jumping arena as the players have to decide whether to go for a fast time and risk getting faults or play safe. There is an advantage in jumping last although then all the pressure is on you! Can youu get a clear round and win the Puissance? MATHSTED This is an educational version of Hickstead. It has excellent graphics and requires the player to select a horse and rider. The horse pauses at each fence until the player answers a randomised sum correctly. If the answer is incorrect, the player gets 4 faults. Time faults are also incurred if the player takes too long to complete the course. The program provides an excellent challenge to the girls (and boys) and even adults, to sharpen up their mental arithmetic! Options 1. Number of horses competing - 1 to 50. You are then asked to name the riders and horses. 2. Type of sum :- Multiply Divide Add Subtract 3. Level of difficulty - 3 levels. 4. Time of each round. The Game There are 2 rounds. The winning riders in the first round will go forward to the jump- off in the second round. The player with the least amount of faults and the fastest time, will be the winner. As the sums have to be completed against the clock the real pressure of the Grand Prix Puissance is felt! Should you take your time and ensure that your answers are correct or should you try for a fast time and a clear round too?
