THERBO AN ALTERNATIVE TO WAR The idea of the game is to gain Therbo control and score a goal with it. Therbo is the name of the thermal ballistic object with which the game is played, as a football is used in soccer. Your opponent, which is computer controlled, and designated as the home team, will also try and gain Therbo control and score against you. You can prevent this by utilising the following devices; 1. The Thruster: either side of the track there are strategically placed Thrusters, some you can use and some, your opponent. By using the correct keys you can fire one of these thrusters at the Therbo and try to force it into touch. This will give you Therbo Control. Your opponent may use his Thrusters to keep the Therbo in play. By pressing "W" and "S" keys you may fire the Thrusters up or down respectively. 2. Mesmo: The Mesmo is a handy facility found on the "M" button. Quite simply, it destroys the Therbo outright! You can use this function only three times in any game, but beware - so can the computer. 3. Polarity Missiles: The missiles home-in on the Therbo and will definitely destroy the Therbo after a set time. If, however, you can guess it's polarity (i.e. if it is positive or negative) and you send out a pulse from the Therbo - which is of an opposite charge - you will neutralise the missile and defuse it. This can be done by simply pressing the "1" or "2" button whilst the missile is in contact with the Therbo. The game initially lasts for nine minutes, but if you, or the computer, find that you are losing or want more time, you can select and extra three minutes. You can only use this function once and only in the last three minutes of the game. This function is on the "T" button. There are two distinct phases of the game. The first phase requires you to destroy shapes that move across the entire screen. Once you have destroyed a set amount of these and gained the necessary points with your tank, then everything will disappear except the Therbo and the second phase begins. Please note, that during this first phase, if your tank is running low on fuel, there is a large spherical refuelling station on screen during this phase from which you can refuel. The second phase is a mad dash for the goal! If your tank does not achieve the necessary points, the goal will be disallowed and if the Therbo does not fully enter the goal it will be considered as being intercepted by the opponent's team. Do not be alarmed as only a few need to be used at any one stage in the game. Consider your computer has become a console for the game. The keys have been arranged conveniently around the tank controls. Joystick options have been give, but for ultimate control it is best to use the keyboard.
