48K SPECTRUM BOWLS



A competative game for two ... Spectrum

bowls is designed to mirror the conventional

game of 'Singles' Bowls.  You may choose

to play 'First to 21', or a shorter game; 'First

to 10'.



FULL INSTRUCTIONS are available at the

start of play, or after each shot is played.

Press 'l'



DIRECTION

As in real life, you must choose your direction

The bowl always curves towards the centre

as it slows down.

A cursor appears from the mat, showing your

angle of shot.  The angle can be increased to

the right or left, be pressing the '8' and '5'

keys, respectively.

When satisfied with your chosen angle.  Press 

'ENTER'.  This locks the direction.



WEIGHT

You choose the weight, or strength of your

shot.  There is a suggested limit of 0 to 40.

Normally, 0 to 30 will be sufficient, however

more weight will be required in the event of

collision with other bowls, or the jack.

After choosing your weight, enter the

numbers, and then press'ENTER'.



BOWLING

You may then bowl your shot.  Press 'B'

If you change your mind, regarding weight

or direction, press any other key.  You will

then start that shot again, and be asked for

direction, and weight again.

Due to scale, it may not always be clear the

exact position of the bowl, and the colour

of your shot may be affected by other bowls.

Therefore there is an enlargement at the end

of each shot.  THESE ARE APPROXIMATE

POSITIONS, but the computer calculates the

exact distance of each bowl from the centre

of the Jack.  By pressing 'SPACE', a graphic

representation is shown, showing the order

of proximity to the Jack.  The Jack is ALWAYS

displayed first.

Unlike conventional bowls, pushing the Jack

into the ditch will render that 'END' void.

After all shots are played, the score is calcul-

ated for thaat 'end'.  Each bowl that scores

will flash as the score increases...



LOADING INSTRUCTIONS

Rewind the tape to the beginning, type

LOAD "" (no space between quotes).

Start the tape playing and press"ENTER".

The program will then load and run

automatically.
