THE SPECTRUM GAMES DATABASE PIXY THE MICRODOT PUBLISHER Your Sinclair Type-In Game AUTHORS David Box YEAR 1986 CATEGORY Arcade DESCRIPTION A great arcade style game featuring realistic gravity and inertia, one of the best type-in listings ever to feature in a magazine! CONTROLS Q - Left W - Right SPACE - Thrust INSTRUCTIONS You play a single pixel. Don't let that put you off, though, this is a seriously good (and difficult) game! You must avoid the forces of evil and fight against gravity to collect five flashing objects from around the maze. Collecting objects will open up further sections of the maze which were previously unreachable. Careful not to go too fast, 'cos there's no slow down key and the walls are deadly! CHEATS It's only BASIC, I guess you could break in and alter the amount of lives if you really wanted to. SEQUELS/PREQUELS One sequel - Pixy the Microdot II, a PD game. INLAY CARD TEXT Being a type-in game, this didn't have an inlay as such, so I've reproduced the original text that accompanied the listing in the magazine: PIXY THE MICRODOT by David Box The world is being held hostage by aliens! (Oh no! Not again!) The Universal Council of Literate Beings has been told that if they don't come up with one billion mega credits in the next two hours the Earth will be destroyed using a rather large nuclear missile. (Oo-er!) Stupidly, the UCLB has called the aliens' bluff and so now the sixty-five squillion megaton bomb is being primed and will soon be launched. Meanwhile, a well known scientist has designed a guidance jamming system and put the blueprint in a self-propelled flying microdot, called Pixy. But Pixy has been captured by the aliens en-route to the base where the jammer was to be built... The future of Civilisation (as we know it) now hangs in the balance until Pixy can escape from the ghastly alien dungeon... (dan dan daaaaaan!!) Pixy is a superfast, high skill arcade adventure of the highest order. It features gravity, friction and inertia, and you have control over LEFT - Q, RIGHT - W, and THRUST - SPACE BAR. (If you want to go down, just let yourself drop!). The best thing of all is that the game is all done in a mere 14k of Basic! Take it away Pixy! NOTES Don't be put off by the fact that it was a type-in listing and is almost completely written in Basic - this is a great game! Give it a go!
