THE SPECTRUM GAMES DATABASE THE MIGHTY MAGUS PUBLISHER Quicksilva AUTHOR Neil Pawson, Ian Horn YEAR CATEGORY Platform CONTROLS Can't recall, they were definable from the main menu though. DESCRIPTION The Mighty Magus is a scrolling platform game. INSTRUCTIONS you have to get a wizard down through around thirty levels of dungeon, kill the dragon and back to the top again. There where an increasing number of monsters to fight on the way down and chests/rubbish piles to search for spellpower, life energy and magic items. Traps in the floor did various nasty things and have to be watched for carefully. The dungeon was automatically generated each time the game was played, only to top and bottom layers stayed the same. The number keys cast the spells (higher the number, more powerful the spell), and that spells make walls temporarily passable. CHEATS When killing the dragon stand on the stairs to the left of its range and kill it with spells, neither the dragon nor its fire will reach you. SCORES RECEIVED The game got good reviews in some magazines but was badly let down by flickery graphics (not mine I might add, the dungeon structure and display was mine, the monsters and the wizard was Ians. Quicksilva's distributer went bust as the game was released and it took them a while to get a new one, this didn't help us much! Software projects were also interested but we chose Quicksilva, c'est la vie.
