CONTROLS Redefinable keyboard/Kempston joystick Default:Sinclair combination Left:6, Right:7, Up:8, Down:9, Fire:0 ORIGINAL INLAY CARD TEXT Trapped inside the alien space pod, your only hope of escape is to reach the renowned Level-5. Preventing you from reaching your goal are the ferocious Cybernauts, war robots that are programmed to cause maximum destruction, and worse still, you cannot kill them, for they will only regenerate into new forms, even more dangerous and destructive than before. Trapped and alone, with limited resources and no chance of help, you must use your skill and ingenuity to survive. But remember, time is running out! An all action arcade adventure for the Spectrum. Featuring:- Fully scrolling displays; On screen real time clock; Joystick or Keyboard; Redefinable Keys; One or Two Players. Trapped in a four storey alien complex, all of the defence systems come to life in the form of "Cybernauts" - robotic droids with deadly armaments and an astonishing ability to regenerate themselves after attack. As you guide your own "Penetration-Orb" around each floor of the complex, ducking into lifts, searching each room and corridor on your renaissance mission to obtain as much information about the complex and it's defence mechanisms. The Cybernauts are relentless in their pursuit, gunning with all their pre-programmed fury in their attempts to annihilate the intruder. But these are not the easily beaten, mindless, kamikaze droids that they might appear. Once outgunned they disintegrate only to re-materialise elsewhere, stronger, faster, altogether better equipped to deal with the intruder in their midst. Your only chance to survive is to destroy the Cybernauts in all their manifestations, using the scant armaments that you can find, your limited access to their own security defence computer, all the energy your Orb can carry, and your own skill, cunning and agility, coupled with a prayer. PLAYING INSTRUCTIONS The game may be played either from the keyboard or by using a joystick. When using the keyboard the keys may be re- assigned to suit the player (default is 6, 7, 8, 9 and 0 for Sinclair joysticks). The joystick option is for Kempston. You move around the complex by moving your joystick into any one of the eight possible directions. Whilst you are moving pressing the fire button will fire the weapon which you are currently using in the direction of movement. LIFTS By manouvering your Penetration-Orb over a Lift and then pressing the fire button you can access the Lift controls. Select from the available floors by moving the joystick backwards or forwards. Press fire and you will be taken to that floor. CONSOLES By manouvering your Penetration-Orb over a Console and then pressing the fire button you can access the console functions. Select from the available functions by moving the joystick backwards or forwards. Press fire and that function will become active. When in any function pressing the fire button will return you to the Console menu. ENERGY By manouvering your Penetration-Orb over an Energy Point and then pressing the fire button you can draw energy from it. Moving the joystick forward recharges the shield energy, whilst moving it backwards recharges the weapon energy. ARMOURIES By manouvering your Penetration-Orb over an Armoury and then pressing the fire button you can select one of the available weapons. Pressing fire again will move you out of the Armoury. KNOWN DETAILS When in combat a special force shield protects your Penetration-Orb from incoming fire. However, each direct hit drains your shield energy which, when depleted, leaves you completely unprotected. In addition to incoming fire, collisions with any Cybernaut will drain your shield energy. Each weapon when fired uses a certain amount of your weapon energy, which when depleted renders you unable to fire. Weapons should be chosen carefully as only a limited amount of weapons are available. LOADING INSTRUCTIONS Type LOAD"" and press ENTER.
