FOOTBALL CLUB - FROZEN ICE W E L C O M E T O F O O T B A L L C L U B (c) 1989 Frozen Ice Programming: Stephen Corry Additional Coding: Chris Pile INTRODUCTION 'Football Club' is a football management simulator that faithfully recreates the suspense and drama of domestic league and cup action. You start in Division Four. Only the top club will get promoted, the lowest gets relegated. However, you will be sacked for finishing last in Division Four. GETTING STARTED After selecting the 'Football Club' you want to manage, you will be presented with a menu as described below: 1. Play Next Match - see 'Kicking Off' below. 2. Sell Players - here, you can boot somebody out of the squad who isn't up to scratch. A club will make an offer, then you decide whether or not to accept it. (See 'About Your Team' for more information). 3. Visit Bank - The Acme bank are a fairly generous bunch of people. Provided you don't steal their counter pens, they will be happy to lend you a penny or three. 4. Save Season - Whack in a blank tape and come back another day. KICKING OFF The atmosphere is electric (probably a thunderstorm brewing up), the players are bouncing on the spot in the team tunnel, as the fans eagerly await their presence on the hallow turf. Before they grace the emerald blades, you have the chance to make a few amendments to the squad - the home side always has an advantage - then the match begins. A clock simulates the ninety minutes of match play. The match type is also shown above the attendance figures. The further you advance in the league and cup, the higher the attendance will be, and the more money you will rake in. Goal scorers are shown below their respective 'Football Club's alongside the times the goals were netted. THEY THINK IT'S OVER! After a league match, the other results from your division are shown before the league table is presented. Your 'Football Club' is highlighted in blue. Note - press 'P' at the 'Any Key' prompt to print any of the three above mentioned screens. The Weekly Bill tallies your profits and losses for the week. Home teams get a three quarter cut of the gate receipts and rest goes to the visitor. Both 'Football Clubs' that reach the cup final equally share these. If you have less than sixteen players in your squad, your scout will take you to the transfer market for this week's star buy. ABOUT YOUR TEAM There are two charts detailing your team's statistics. Both feature common information regarding the position (Pos) of the player (G=Goalkeeper; D=Defender; M=Midfield; A=Attack), and his skill (Ski) (the greater the number the more skilful the player). When selling a player, you will also be shown the number of seasons remaining before that player's contract (Con) expires alongside his transfer fee. When amending your squad prior to a game, this information is substituted with details of a player's strength (Str) (the greater the number, the more likely he is of scoring) alongside the number of goals (Go) he has scored.
