Filer, The - Lea Pearson (Sinclair User-September 86) Here's a really neat little program from Lea Pearson of Nottingham. As you may have guessed, it's a filing program. This program stores files in memory which can be saved to tape for future use. Also the program will allow you to destroy files, view the file of your choice, and even print out a hard copy. Text can only be about one screen long though. To alter the number of files which can be stored, you can change the values of the DIM statements in lines 3, 4 and 5. The first number is the number of files, the second is the number of characters. [I expect that "really neat" is a euphemism for "really crap", as] [this program is an awful mess, with lots of redundant code and ] [the screen presentation is very untidy - plus it's of no ] [practical use whatsoever. ] [Notes: ] [The program expects a password of "GVTTT" at the start. ] [The PROG system variable is corrupted with POKE 23635,0 if the ] [wrong password is entered, or if Space is pressed on one of the ] [menu screens, which will cause a Spectrum crash sooner or later.] [As with many other programs of this ilk, it incorrectly uses the] [term "file" when it means "record", of which it only handles 10.] [You'd be better off using a pencil and paper.
