This program has been written in BASIC so that you can change it to suit your own preferences. Once you have loaded your program a menu will appear on the screen listing the following options: 1. Type data in using keyboard 5. Print a Chart 2. Load Data 6. Example 3. Save Data 7. End 4. Make a Chart FUNCTIONS Key 6 acts as an example to demonstrate how to use the program. We recommend you to look at 6 first. 1. Type in data using keyboard: it is possible by using this function to type in information to create a 3D chart. For best results it is advisable to make sure that data from the previous block is higher than the next block. Remember when typing in data use the decimal point not a comma. 2. Load data: information can be loaded from a disk or a tape (Spectrum users tape only). 3. Save data: information can be saved on a tape or a disk (Spectrum users tape only). 4. Make a chart: select this function after you have typed in data using the keyboard. 5. Print a chart: this function will print out your chart. 6. Example function. 7. End: when you finish working on a document, use this function to leave the program. Save your document first though. * - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - * DATABASE Database is an economical and easy to use database for the home user. A database is like an electronic filing cabinet containing a lot of individual records. It is an ideal way of storing information such as names, addresses and telephone numbers. This program has been written in BASIC so that you can change it to suit your own preferences. When the program loads a menu will then appear, select the option required. 1. CREATE NEW FILE 2. LOAD FILE 1. CREATE NEW FILE - All information in database is held in records. These records ore divided into 6 fields. You will be requested to assign names to these fields. Suppose you create a file to hold names and addresses you might name the fields as follows:- FIELD 1 NAME FIELD 2 Address 1 FIELD 3 Address 2 FIELD 4 Address 3 FIELD 5 Postcode FIELD 6 Telephone Follow instructions on the screen to enter these names. Once complete you will be passed to the main menu. 2. LOAD FILE - You will be requested to enter the name of the file you wish to load. Once the file is loaded you will be passed to the main menu. MAIN MENU OPTIONS 1. INPUT DATA IN A NEW FILE -This option is used to enter information into your newly created file. 2. SEE RECORD CONTENTS - Follow instructions on the screen to view complete records. 3. LIST PER FIELD - Allows you to view the contents of all fields of the same number. Eg. using the previous example if you select field 1 then all names of all records will be displayed. 4. CHANGE OR ADD RECORDS - Allows you to add new records to a file or edit existing records. 5. SEARCH ON FIELD - Search through all records for a given field, eg. suppose you require the address of JOHN SMITH from a record in your file. This option will allow you to search through all the NAME fields to find the correct record and hence JOHN SMITH'S address. 6. SORT ALPHABETIC - Sort your records in alphabetic order. This can be done by using any field. Eg. you can sort the records by using the NAME field. 7. FIELD CALCULATIONS - Allows you to perform calculations on fields that have numerical values. 8. DELETE RECORDS - Allows you to delete records from your file. 9. SAVE FILE- Used to save your file of records to TAPE or DISK. H - Display the options available on the main menu. E - STOP close down the database. This program has been written in BASIC so that you can change it to suit your own preferences. When the program has loaded a menu will appear with the following options: 1. New Payments 5. Setup 2. Search/Delete 6. Stop 3. Monthly List 7. Directory 4. Load/Save Before you start using Home Accounts you must select option 5 to set up the program. This must be done every time you load the Home Accounts program. Having set up the program you con now use any of the other options. 1. NEW PAYMENTS - Used to add new payments to a monthly list. This includes payments made and received. At the first menu, payments are received from a DEBTOR and made to a CREDITOR. Entering new information: DESCRIPTION PAYMENT -Name you give to this payment eg. GAS, TELEPHONE, INSURANCE etc. AMOUNT - Amount of payment in pounds and pence. MONTH - Number of the month payment is made 1-12, JAN-DEC. 2. SEARCH/DELETE - Select this option and follow instructions on screen. 3. MONTHLY LIST- List out the account for each month. Follow instructions on screen. When the list appears only the first item will be shown, press any key to display next item. When all of this list has been displayed press RETURN to return to the main menu. 4. SET UP - Used to set up the program for the first time. You can also use this option at any other time to close the account held in memory. 5. STOP - Close the home accounts program. 6. DIRECTORY - Display the directory of the disk on the screen. It is ideal far writing letters and reports as it enables you to correct typing errors with ease and change and edit text as often as you like. This program has been written in BASIC so that you can change it to suit your own preferences. Use SYMBOL SHIFT with the following keys to achieve program functions. SPACE performs a tab. Q moves to beginning of text E moves to end of text A "new" text, deletes all previous text F load previously saved text S save text W print text In addition, the EDIT key (CAPS SHIFT/1) sets the line length and ten tab stops.
