Trojan Cadmaster(TM) Spectrum User Instructions - Please Read Carefully =============================================== The TROJAN CADMASTER PACK comprises of a Graphics program plus a Light Pen and this Instruction Booklet. The pack is intended for use by micro users of all ages and any level of expertise. It can be used to produce any type of picture, from a full colour art display to a black and white technical drawing. The 'Pin Point' function in the program allows pixel accuracy and various line types can be used to dramatic effect. Please experiment with all the functions which, when combined with all eight colours, give more coices than we mention in this booklet. The pack makes full use of Microdrive facilities (except on Spectrum +3). A Few Hints and Tips -------------------- Keep the tip of your light pen clean. When using the pen always point it directly at and square to the screen, holding it as you would a normal pen or pencil. Do not apply undue pressure on the tip of the pen - a light touch is all that is required. When first setting up to use your light pen you should adjust the contrast and brightness on your screen to give the best performance. Loading the Software -------------------- Spectrum 48K and Spectrum + 1. Insert cassette into data recorder. 2. Press LOAD and "". 3. Press PLAY on data recorder. Program will load and "Autorun". Spectrum +2 1. Insert cassette into data recorder. 2. Highlight LOADER on opening screen and press ENTER. 3. Press LOAD key on data recorder. 4. When screen shows "Program finished" type RUN and press ENTER. Spectrum +3 1. Insert disk into disk drive with A side up. 2. Highlight LOADER on opening screen and press ENTER. Program will now load and "Autorun". Transferring Program to Microdrive ---------------------------------- 1. Load program from cassette. 2. Select SA/LO option using the pen. 3. Select SAVE and TAPE and type ENTER. 4. When SAVE sequence begins (border will flash) press BREAK keys. 5. Place cartidge into Microdrive. 6. Type in GOTO 8000 and ENTER. The program will now be saved as two files - one is RUN file and the other is M/C file called CADMASTER. To run the program from Microdrive press RUN key and ENTER. When Program is Loaded ---------------------- Spectrum 48K and Spectrum + 1. Remove jack plug from EAR socket at rear of Micro. 2. Connect PP3 battery to clip at end of pen cable. 3. Insert jack plug at end of pen cable into EAR socket. Spectrum +2 and +3 1. Insert plug at end of pen cable into No.2 joystick port. The Main Menu ------------- To select an option from the main menu you must point the tip of the pen at the centre of the box at the right hand side of that option. Line Types ---------- There are seven Line Types from which to choose. You may use any of the Line Types with any of the Geometric options or with the Freehand Draw option. When Line Type is selected the box alongside it will change colour from White to Red and will remain Red until Line Type is changed. 1. Thin. This option will produce a uniformly Thin line. 2. Med. This option will produce a uniformly Medium line. 3. Thick. This option will produce a uniformly Thick line. 4. Quill 1 & 2. These options will produce a line which will be thicker in the "X" direction than in the "Y" direction. Quill 1 is thinner than Quill 2. 5. Dot L. This option produces a dotted line. 6. Brush. This option produces a Brush or Spray effect. Paper ----- Selecting the Paper option is equivalent to the Inverse instruction in basic and will Unplot a Pixel in the current colour. Ink --- Selecting the Ink option is equivalent to the Plot option in basic and will plot a Pixel in the current colour. The Paper and Ink options are mutually exclusive and are universally connected with the Line Types. Freehand Draw ------------- 1. Select Draw option. 2. Place tip of pen at the point on the screen where you wish to start drawing. 3. Press and hold down the Space bar or Key No.1. 4. Allow time for scan to find position of pen. 5. When flashing cursor appears under tip of pen you may start to Draw. Move the pen smoothly in the required direction keeping the pen tip within the cursor area. 6. To stop Drawing release Space bar or Key No.1. To restart draw place tip of pen at new start location and repress and hold down Space bar or Key No.1. 7. Press Key E if you wish to erase the last item Drawn. 8. To leave this option press any other Key. Line ---- 1. Select Line option. 2. Place top of pen at the point on the screen where you require one end of Line to appear. Press Space or No.1 Key. 3. A small cursor will appear at that point on the screen. 4. You may now move the cursor for Pin Point accuracy by using the Nos.5, 6, 7 & 8 Keys on the Spectrum or the cursor Keys on the Spectrum +. Actual position of the cursor will also be shown at the bottom of the screen in its "X,Y" and "Line/Column" formats. 5. Place tip of pen to position where you require other end of Line to appear on the screen. 6. You may now move the cursor for Pin Point accuracy by using the Nos. 5, 6, 7 & 8 Keys on the Spectrum or the cursor Keys on the Spectrum +. Actual positions of the cursor will also be shown at the bottom of the screen in its "X,Y" and "Line/Column" formats. 7. You may repeat this option as often as required. 8. To erase last Line drawn press E. 9. To leave this option press any other Key. Banding ------- 1. Select Band option. 2. Place tip of pen at the required start point on the screen. 3. A small cursor will appear on the screen. 4. You may now move the cursor for Pin Point accuracy by using the Nos. 5, 6, 7 & 8 Keys on the Spectrum or the cursor Keys on the Spectrum +. Actual positions of the cursor will also be shown at the bottom of the screen in its "X,Y" and "Line/Column" formats. 5. Place tip of pen at the point where you require end of 1st Line to appear. 6. You may now move the cursor for Pin Point accuracy by using the Nos. 5, 6, 7 & 8 Keys on the Spectrum or the cursor Keys on the Spectrum +. Actual positions of the cursor will also be shown at the bottom of the screen in its "X,Y" and "Line/Column" formats. 7. Repeat above operations to add lines as required. New line will start from end of previous Line. 8. To erase last Line drawn press E. 9. To leave this option press any other Key. Rays ---- 1. Select Rays option. 2. Place tip of pen at point on the screen where you wish centre of Ray to appear. Press Space or No.1. 3. A small cursor will appear on the screen. 4. You may now move the cursor for Pin Point accuracy by using the Nos. 5, 6, 7 & 8 Keys on the Spectrum or the cursor Keys on the Spectrum +. Actual positions of the cursor will also be shown at the bottom of the screen in its "X,Y" and "Line/Column" formats. 5. Place the tip of the pen at the point where you wish the end of the 1st Ray line to appear. Press Space or No.1. 6. You may now move the cursor for Pin Point accuracy by using the Nos. 5, 6, 7 & 8 Keys on the Spectrum or the cursor Keys on the Spectrum +. Actual positions of the cursor will also be shown at the bottom of the screen in its "X,Y" and "Line/Column" formats. 7. Repeat No.5 and 6 operations until your RAY is complete. 8. To erase last Line drawn press E. 9. To leave this option press any other Key. Box --- 1. Select Box option. 2. Place tip of pen at the point on the screen where you wish one corner of your Box to appear. Press Space or No.1. 3. A small cursor will appear on the screen. 4. You may now move the cursor for Pin Point accuracy by using the Nos. 5, 6, 7 & 8 Keys on the Spectrum or the cursor Keys on the Spectrum +. Actual positions of the cursor will also be shown at the bottom of the screen in its "X,Y" and "Line/Column" formats. 5. Place the tip of the pen at the point on the screen where you wish the opposite corner of the Box to appear. Press Space or No.1. 6. You may now move the cursor for Pin Point accuracy by using the Nos. 5, 6, 7 & 8 Keys on the Spectrum or the cursor Keys on the Spectrum +. Actual positions of the cursor will also be shown at the bottom of the screen in its "X,Y" and "Line/Column" formats. 7. You may repeat this operation as often as required. 8. To erase last Box drawn press E. 9. To leave this option press any other Key. Triangle -------- 1. Select Tria. option. 2. Place tip of pen at the point on the screen where you wish one corner of your Triangle to appear. Press Space or No.1. 3. A small cursor will appear on the screen. 4. You may now move the cursor for Pin Point accuracy by using the Nos. 5, 6, 7 & 8 Keys on the Spectrum or the cursor Keys on the Spectrum +. Actual positions of the cursor will also be shown at the bottom of the screen in its "X,Y" and "Line/Column" formats. 5. Place the tip of the pen at the point on the screen where you wish the second point of your Triangle to appear. Press Space or No.1. 6. You may now move the cursor for Pin Point accuracy by using the Nos. 5, 6, 7 & 8 Keys on the Spectrum or the cursor Keys on the Spectrum +. Actual positions of the cursor will also be shown at the bottom of the screen in its "X,Y" and "Line/Column" formats. 7. Place the tip of the pen at the point on the screen where you wish the last point of your Triangle to appear. Press Space or No.1. 8. You may now move the cursor for Pin Point accuracy by using the Nos. 5, 6, 7 & 8 Keys on the Spectrum or the cursor Keys on the Spectrum +. Actual positions of the cursor will also be shown at the bottom of the screen in its "X,Y" and "Line/Column" formats. 9. You may repeat this operation as often as required. 10. To erase last Triangle drawn press E. 11. To leave this option press any other Key. Circle ------ 1. Select Circ. option. 2. Place tip of the pen at the point on the screen where you wish the centre of your Circle to appear. Press Space or No.1. 3. A small cursor will appear on the screen. 4. You may now move the cursor for Pin Point accuracy by using the Nos. 5, 6, 7 & 8 Keys on the Spectrum or the cursor Keys on the Spectrum +. Actual positions of the cursor will also be shown at the bottom of the screen in its "X,Y" and "Line/Column" formats. 5. Place tip of the pen at the point where you wish the circumference of your Circle to appear. 6. You may now move the cursor for Pin Point accuracy by using the Nos. 5, 6, 7 & 8 Keys on the Spectrum or the cursor Keys on the Spectrum +. Actual positions of the cursor will also be shown at the bottom of the screen in its "X,Y" and "Line/Column" formats. 7. You may repeat this operation as often as required. 8. To erase last Circle drawn press E. 9. To leave this option press any other Key. Special Note ------------ The Circle option may also be used to draw a Box on the screen by carrying out the following:- When plotting the centre point of the Circle take note of the "X,Y" co-ordinates shown at the bottom of the screen. Plot the second or circumference point on the screen but make sure that the X or Y co-ordinate of this point is the same as the X or Y co-ordinate of the centre point. A Box will then be drawn. Copy ---- 1. Select Copy option. 2. Place tip of pen at the bottom left hand point of the area on screen to be Copied. Press Space or No.1. 3. A small cursor will appear on the screen. 4. You may now move the cursor for Pin Point accuracy by using the Nos. 5, 6, 7 & 8 Keys on the Spectrum or the cursor Keys on the Spectrum +. Actual positions of the cursor will also be shown at the bottom of the screen in its "X,Y" and "Line/Column" formats. 5. Place tip of the pen at a point at the top right hand side of the area to be Copied. 6. A Box will appear around the area to be Copied. 7. You may now move the cursor for Pin Point accuracy by using the Nos. 5, 6, 7 & 8 Keys on the Spectrum or the cursor Keys on the Spectrum +. Actual positions of the cursor will also be shown at the bottom of the screen in its "X,Y" and "Line/Column" formats. 8. Press Space or No.1. 9. Copy menu will now appear on screen. 10. Select size of Copy required. 11. Place tip of pen at the bottom left hand corner of the area where you wish Copy to appear on the screen. Press Space or No.1. 12. Copy will now be drawn and may be moved by using the Nos.5, 6, 7 & 8 Keys on the Spectrum or the cursor Keys on the Spectrum +. 13. You may repeat this option as often as required. 14. To erase the last Copy drawn press E. 15. To leave this option press any Key and select Return on the Copy menu. Note: To copy same design in more than one size select size at this stage instead od selecting Return. Fill ---- 1. Select Fill option. 2. Fill menu will appear on the screen. 3. Select Fill type required. (Solid colour & seven patterns). 4. Place tip of pen in enclosed area to be filled. Press Space or No.1. 5. You may now move the cursor for Pin Point accuracy by using the Nos. 5, 6, 7 & 8 Keys on the Spectrum or the cursor Keys on the Spectrum +. Actual positions of the cursor will also be shown at the bottom of the screen in its "X,Y" and "Line/Column" formats. 6. Press Space or No.1 to start Fill. 7. Wait for the Fill operation to be completed. 8. You may repeat this option as often as required. 9. To leave this option press any other Key. Text ---- 1. Select Text option. 2. Flashing cursor will appear at top left corner of the screen. 3. Move cursor to point where you wish Text to start on the screen by using Key Nos.5, 6, 7 & 8 on the Spectrum or cursor Keys on the Spectrum +. 4. Type in required Text on the keyboard. 5. To leave this option press ENTER. Note: Text is printed in "Over 1" style. Window ------ 1. Select Windo option. 2. Place tip of pen at the bottom left corner of area to be cleared as either Paper or Ink. Press Space or No.1. 3. A small cursor will appear on the screen. 4. You may now move the cursor for Pin Point accuracy by using the Nos. 5, 6, 7 & 8 Keys on the Spectrum or the cursor Keys on the Spectrum +. Actual positions of the cursor will also be shown at the bottom of the screen in its "X,Y" and "Line/Column" formats. 5. Place tip of the pen at the top right corner of the area to be cleared either as Paper or Ink. 6. Cleared area will now appear on the screen. 7. You may move cleared area by using the Key Nos.5, 6, 7 & 8 on the Spectrum or the cursor Keys on the Spectrum +. 8. To erase the last area drawn press E. 9. To leave this option press any other Key. Note: If Paper has been selected the area will be unplotted in the current colour. Print Out --------- 1. Select Prout option. 2. Copies screen to ZX printer. 3. Return to Main Menu when completed. Erase ----- 1. Select Erase option. 2. All Drawings from the last option will now be Erased. 3. Return to Main Menu when completed. New --- 1. Select colour required for screen background. 2. Select New option. 3. Select CLS or Return on New menu. 4. Returns automatically to Main Menu. 5. Select colour required for Pen. Save/Load --------- Spectrum 48K and Spectrum + and +2 1. Select SA/LO option. 2. Save/Load menu will appear on screen. 3. Select option required. 4. Select tape or Microdrive option. 5. Type in fine name. 6. Screen will now be Saved or Loaded. 7. Returns automatically to Main Menu. Spectrum +3 1. Select SA/LO option. 2. Save/Load menu will appear on screen. 3. Select option required. 4. Select Disk or M.Disk (M.Disk uses memory as a disk and is not permanent storage). 5. Type in file name. 6. Screen will now be Saved or Loaded. 7. Returns automatically to Main Menu. Colours ------- Point pen at box to right of required colour. Box of selected colour will change from White to Red.
