Blob Quest BLOB QUEST INSTRUCTIONS All design, coding and music by Ritchie TECHY INFO This game was originally designed to work with your BASIC speccy tape machine (or rather the adventure utility used to make it was) This means that certain parts of the game only work if you've got an emulator that can mimic tape saving and loading files off disc (I've seen an ST and an Amiga emulator that can do this; but jpp definitely cannot - at least not yet) Most noticeably when you complete part one, you'll be asked to save some information to tape. This info is loaded in when you start part two, to ensure all the objects and status flags you have at the end of part one are carried over. Obviously if you emulator doesn't support tape loading then you can't run part two period If enough people complain I might do another snapshot of part two without a saved game needed to be loading in, with just the right objects to complete the game THE PLOT Blob lives in a small town, which is owned by the not incredibly nice Baron Von Slog, who lives in a rather nice castle miles away from all the so called riff-raff, presumably referring to Blob Well life in Blob's town has just taken a turn for the worse, since the mean old Baron has decided he wants to make some money out of his poor old tenants. And so he introduced the Poll Tax Needless to say, nobody was pleased about this. And so they decided to send some mug off to Castle Slog and get rid of the evil Baron once and for all And so, one morning, a crowd of people knocked on Blob's front door and told him to get on with it and not come back until Baron Von Slog had been thwarted Quite unsurprisingly, Blob was unimpressed. However since several of the party at the front door were carrying implements harmful to sensitive areas of the body, he didn't want to argue And so off he set.... THE GAME The game is yer basic bog standard text adventure. Well there is a nice 128K soundtrack to compensate for the fact that I can't draw Basically you type in a series of commands to make up a sentence, which Blob will then act upon. However, the sentence doesn't have to be full English, so OPEN DOOR will probably work just as well as OPEN THE GREEN DOOR Typing HELP will give you a list of the most commonly used phrases, such as NORTH, SOUTH, EAST, WEST (movement), LOOK (describes the room), GET and DROP (getting and dropping objects) and EXAMINE (useful command that one) Special commands include LOAD and SAVE to load and save a game to tape, and QUIT to end your adventure
