S I N C L A I R   E X T E N D E D   B A S I C

This is a holding page, pending the release of Sinclair Extended BASIC 1.0. There are a number of beta releases floating around but the official ones are as follows:

   r0.72    First public beta to be compiled from an assembly file.
   r0.80a   Second public beta, slightly more compatible than r0.72.
   r0.83c   Experimental developer release. Full of bugs.
   r0.93e   Third public beta, distributed with vbSpec and SPIN emulators.
   r0.94B   Fourth public beta. This is a completely new build.

Owing to there being four different development trees the version numbering is a mess. Therefore, although the documentation may refer to the above releases as versions, please note that the version number is in fact the release number. Releases prior to 0.48 were created using a patch file. Releases from 0.81 to 0.93 were created from a modified version of the zx82 assembly file, except for 0.83c which was created from a reformatted version of the zx82 assembly file. Releases from 0.94 onwards are based on a brand new assembly file. The current version of this file is 0.17. The release number indicates the progress towards the first non-beta release.
