THE SECRET OF LEVITATION Game plan Select the games from the main menu in any order that you like (see below for game descriptions). Many of the games are timed – you score according to your speed so be careful because mistakes are penalised. You can exit any of the games by pressing SYMBOL SHIFT & ENTER together. For each game you receive a LEVITATION RATING from 1 to 1,000 depending on how well you preformed. This is displayed on the main screen and determines the height, time and quality of the Sidha's flight. Incidentally, he is sat in the 'lotus position' for aerodynamic efficiency. If you score above 700 then at the peak of his flight he will radiate with the energy of the Unified Field. If you score above 800 he will then be transformed into an ethereal form in preparation for prolonged travel. Superlative scores of over 900 points will see him finally ascend into the heaves to take in some celestial exploration. (Pressing any key will break out of this sequence and return you to the main menu) 1. Rapid Reaction If you're going to fly then you're going to need fast reactions. For one thing they're necessary before you even take off but imagine the chaos you could cause to aircraft, birds and trees if you weren't able to take quick evasive action at high speed! So check out your reactions by pressing the 'Z' key down then waiting for one of the Sidhas to disappear. When the Sidha disappears react as quickly as you can by removing your finger from the 'Z' key and pressing key 1,2,3 or 4 depending on which Sidha disappeared. CLOCK 1 shows how quickly you reacted to the disappearing Sidha. CLOCK 2 is the time it took you to then select the correct key 1-4. You have 10 trials. 1000 POINT CRITERION: Average CLOCK1 time .2 seconds; average CLOCK2 time .1 second. 2. Vibrant Vision Any potential levitators are going to have highly developed nervous systems –their visual abilities for example will be 2uite outstanding to the extent that they could form a mental picture of an object in the tiniest fraction of a second. Having formed the mental picture successfully they could then make a decision based on the information collected. See how quickly you are able to form a mental picture and how finely tuned is your discrimination by studying the two lines that appear for a fraction of a second behind the closed door. One of the lines is longer than the other – press '1' if your think it's on the left, and '0' for right. The door acts as a 'mask', which prevents the image from 'hanging around' on your inner screen. As you keep going the lines will appear for shorter and shorter intervals and at some point you will no longer be able to decide which is the longer line – but just keep guessing and the computer will isolate your time. You'll be surprised how varied people are on this. 1000 POINT CRITERION: Interval time of 10 milliseconds. 3. Hand-Eye Harmony Obviously one of the essentials for successful levitating – the body responds perfectly to the desires of the mind – if you want to walk, you walk; if you want to fly, you fly! Some people will be naturals at this game – athletes and racing car drivers for example. But could a pilot be good enough to discard his aircraft altogether? Use the joysticks to steer the Sidha as closely as possible to the moving target and so keep the error score as low as possible – the further you move away the larger the score becomes. If you think it's too easy at first then wait a little as it will speed up considerably over the 2 minute period. 1000 POINT CRITERION: Error score of 50 4. Peak Perception The perceptions of your regular levitator will be very finely tuned – everything the see will be processed and organised with optimum efficiency and speed. They'd be real masters at this game. You are presented with a series of images each of which has an identical matching with one of five similar shapes shown at the same time. Just go through as quickly as you can pressing one of the keys 1-5 depending on which is the matching image. It'll be just you against the clock so be careful in your judgement because mistakes are penalised. 1000 POINT CRITERION: Game completed in 40 seconds. 5. Mind-Body Mastery Now we're really getting down to business. This game involves many skills all at the same time – mind-body coordination, broad vision, quick judgement – the credentials of the fervent flier. It's simple enough – just use the joystick to guide the Sidha through each maze as fast as possible. This means that you have to find the route, remember it, and use your hand-eye skills to guide the Sidha along the route. Of course levitators would find this extremely easy since they would be able to look over the maze walls to see where they were going! Incidentally be very careful not to touch the walls as this leads to delays each time and again, of course, it's you against the clock. 1000 POINT CRITEREION: All 8 mazes traversed in 1 minute 40 seconds. 6. Agile Alertness I think you'll agree that someone who could fly would really be pretty clever to say the least. They'd be able to pick new things up very quickly; they'd be able to transform, match and act while at the same time learn as they were going along. Eight shapes marked 1 to 8 are shown at the top of the screen. Below are lots of shapes without any numbers. As the Sidha moves under each shape in turn you have to type in the corresponding number as quickly as you can. It may look easy if you're watching someone else do it but wait until you try! If you are very good, you'll probably find that you can remember the numbers for each shape after a little while, which will help speed you up. 1000 POINT CRITERION: Game completed in 45 seconds. 7. Inner Integration An absolute must for anyone with the desire to disregard Newton's apple and beam up high above the clouds. Pantanjali, the ancient sage, said that in order to do this your mind must be able to be both expanded – like a wide-angle lens, and focussed – like a zoom lens, both at the same time so that you can project an impulse of though from the quietest, most expanded level of awareness. You'll be presented with a series of complex patterns and somewhere hidden inside each one is a simple shape. This is indicated by the letter beside the pattern, which matches one of 5 shapes below. When you can see the simple shape within the pattern then use the joystick to trace the cursor around it, you guessed it, as quickly as you can. Some people find this very easy – these simple shapes almost stares out at them. For others it's like looking for a needle in a haystack. If you do have problems then you can press 'S' on the keyboard to skip a pattern. 1000 POINT CRITERION: All 10 patterns completed in 1 minute 40 seconds. 8. Reliable Recall A game of pure memory skill. Again a highly developed individual with the ability to fly is going to have perfect recall. Some people who may not be quite so good on earlier games may be a lot better at this one and vice-versa. You'll have 30 seconds to study and memorise a sheet of abstract shapes. Then you'll be presented with 15 more shapes some of which were in the original set. Simply go through typing 'Y' for yes and 'N' for no to indicate whether you think each shape was in the original. You can adjust your answers by moving the cursor between each shape sing the 'A' key to go left and the 'D' key to go right and re-entering 'Y' or 'N'. You'll have 30 seconds to finish. 1000 POINT CRITERION: All shapes correctly identified. 9. Fluent Function This game is a little tricky. It wouldn't, however, fool your average levitator. You have to be able to switch off old habits that don't work any more, and adjust fluently to a new one that does by ignoring the confusing element. The game has two parts. The first part is easy; you just have to count the Sidhas in each box and key in the number as quickly as possible. The second part is deigned to confuse you by replacing the Sidhas with digits that are different from the number you are counting. Again count the digits as quickly as possible trying to remain unconfused and unflustered. Your score is based on how confused you are by the game. 1000 POINT CRITERION: Now that would make it easy!? L. Levigram This will give you an overview of your overall levitation skills. You'll probably find that you're a lot better at some games that others and that your friends have a different LEVIGRAM to yours. See if you can improve your scores over time and watch your performance plummet when you feel tired, agitated or generally cloudy. If all of the LEVIGRAM Sidhas end up at the top of the graph then we feel that you're well on your way to "flying through the air with the greatest of ease!" The LEVIGRAM TOTAL quantifies your ability to float. So here is a rough guideline: 0-1000 Absolute no hoper 1000-3000 Feet still firmly on the ground 3000-5000 As above, but there's still hope 5000-7000 Keep trying, you'll soon be up there 7000-8500 You've got what it takes – it just needs the confidence. 8500-9000 Congratulations – A real-life levitator – isn't it easy!
