The ZX Spectrum game Quadrax was first published by Slovak company UltraSoft in 1994. Two years later, Quadrax authors David Durcak and Marian Ferko founded the game development studio Cauldron and released a PC conversion of the game which eventually became the most successful logical game in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Recently, both authors have decided to turn this game into freeware. The PC version of Quadrax is now freely available online at: http://www.cauldron.sk/files/quadrax.zip The original ZX Spectrum game featured a custom loader with copy protection scheme made by Busy Soft (Slavomir Labsky) and was already preserved in TZX format. As I happen to work for Cauldron and I also know Busy Soft personally, I felt competent enough to release this semi-official TAP version which uses standard BASIC loader and contains no copy protection. This version resembles the original look and feel with only minor changes to original code. The game uses Slovak language so I translated the most important messages: Slovak English 1) Start hry 1) Start game 2) Heslo 2) Password 3) Pocet hracov: 1/2 3) Number of players: 1/2 4) Ovladanie 1. hraca 4) Player 1 controls 5) Ovladanie 2. hraca 5) Player 2 controls Heslo nasledujucej miestnosti je: Password for the next level is: Stlac ENTER Press ENTER Zadaj heslo Enter password Zle zadane heslo Wrong password Heslo je spravne Password OK 1) Kempston + Enter 1) Kempston + Enter 2) Definovanie klaves 2) Define keys 3) Hlavne menu 3) Main menu Aktivacia Activation Dole Down Hore Up Doprava Right Dolava Left Prepinac Switch (player) Pressing BREAK during a game displays following menu: Pokracovat Continue Restart levelu Restart level Koniec Exit I hope ZX Spectrum and emulation enthusiasts will enjoy this release. TZX version of the original tape is also included. baze
