NORMAN's LAMENT (Zenobi Software) Spectrum 48K/128K+2 Some of us dream of "riches", some of us dream of "fame" and the rest dream of "power". But to some people all three dreams can be fulfilled with the completion of one simple task - namely becoming a "Member Of Parliament". Such a position can bring about untold wealth, undreamt of "power" and more fame than yon could care to shake a stick at. To NORMAN LAMENT this position was the culmination of all his wishes, and the day he took his seat in the "House Of Commons" was almost as memorable as the day the infamous Cockroach finally crawled out of the pages of "ADVENTURE PROBE' and vanished beneath his favourite pile of rubbish. However even the best things can come to an abrupt end and when poor old NORMAN found himself on the receiving end of an opposition "landslide" victory in the local by-election the bubble had burst! THE STORY SO FAR ... YOU are to play the part of NORMAN LAMENT ... ex-member of Parliament ... having just lost your seat in the "House Of Commons" following the recent publication of the "Boundary Commission's" findings and the resultant by-election that followed. Although your name has been put forward in several so-called "safe" constituencies for consideration, so far you have not even managed to get yourself onto any of the "short lists". However, all is not lost. The PRIME MINISTER, in his supreme wisdom, has decreed that a "safe" seat be set up for all politicians who have lost their own seats in the recent boundary "shake-up". This seat to he given to the person who comes top in a newly devised selection test - a test with a difference. This test bas been devised by BRAINWAVE LTD ... the company responsible for highly successful tests run by the Civil service ... and is almost certain to produce the ideal candidate for the proposed "safe" seat. In a few instances a small modicum of "help" will be available but for the vast majority of the time you will be basically on your own. May the best man or woman win - GOOD LUCK!!! NOTES This game will recognise all the standard inputs such as EXAMINE DISC and READ NOTICE as well as some more comprehensive ones as STICK THE BRICK TO THE CUP (or the other way around). However, the normal VERB/NOUN input should suffice in most cases. In some spots it may help to make notes concerning your actual route through a building and a pencil and paper could prove to be a most useful aid to your quest ... Draw a map!!! Use the standard SAVE and LOAD routines in order to make a record of your progress and with a bit of luck the "safe" seat will soon be yours for the taking ... if you still want it!!! HINT Loose bricks can hide a worthwhile secret and if you can't see in the dark just feel around.
