Gnarly Simon ============ From Swashbuckling Disappointment (who else?) Developed by the collective known as Alarm. Gnarly Simon is the first ever Spectrum game to solely use the border (and beeper) for gameplay. Immerse yourself in a shoddy, buggy hack whilst your imagination fills in the graphics for you! The game is based on Simon, as manufactured and distributed by Milton Bradley. How to play ----------- (Assuming you are playing on a real Spectrum) The game is playable on 128 models, but for the best graphics, use a 48. Load the game and once you’ve had enough of the border graphics, press a key to start. The Spectrum should randomly beep and change the border to a colour. Simply press the corresponding number key on your keyboard (1, 2, 4, or 6). The pattern gets longer and longer. How long can you memorise the pattern for? Why (just why) -------------- There was talk in IRC of creating border-only games. A member of the collective suggested a Defender type game (radar in the top border); a Simon game was suggested and was the first to be developed. Thanks ------ Swashbuckling Disappointment would like to thank the denizens of #zx for their constant disappointments, Mr Cowley for BorderTron3000, and you for reading this. What next? ---------- Who knows, but rumours of ‘Make a Sqij’ are just that at the moment. Release History --------------- One release is enough. We hope you appreciate the programming behind this and the unique ‘same every time’ gameplay. Sincerely, The Alarm. 25.6.12
