CLASSIC TRAINER II (GTI) Take the reins at the stable again in the sequel to the successful 'Classic Trainer'. LOADING INSTRUCTIONS Spectrum: 48K owners type LOAD"" (ENTER). 128K owners select 48K basic. CLASSIC TRAINER II The follow-up to our first release, Classic Trainer, Trainer II takes all the best features and improves on them, resulting in a highly playable stable management simulation. The object of the game is to build a stable of horses to maximum class and fitness; along the way, this will involve winning as many races as possible, in order to collect prize money with which you can consolidate and improve your position, by training and buying new horses. STABLE SCREEN This shows your current stable of horses and their statistics; FORM: How they have performed in their last six races - this will reset to zero each season. DIS: The distance over which the horse will run best. G: The going which best suits the horse. s = soft, f = firm. CLA: Class. (0 - 100) FIT: Fitness. (0 - 100) From this screen, press S for STATUS SCREEN, O for OPTIONS SCREEN, T for TRAINING MENU, R for RACES. OPTIONS SCREEN Options include save and load game, edit names, and the opportunity to change the character set. TRAINING MENU Mentions are given only to items which need some explanation. WORK OUTs can be used to improve the fitness of your horses. All uninjured horses participate, and their fitness will increase or (sometimes) decrease with the training. If overtrained, a horse may become totally unfit, or even injured. Obviously, the fitter a horse is, the better chance it will have in a race. Any number of workouts may be done in a week (limited by your bank balance), but once you have left the screen, you may not return that week. SELL HORSE. If you want to strengthen your position by buying better horses, you have to sell to make space first. RETIRE TO STUD. Another way to create space in the stable is to retire a horse; this will bring you in a weekly stud fee, the size of which depends on the horse's attributes and record. JOCKEYS. You can improve your chances in the races by hiring a better Jockey. VISIT STUD FARM. (Week 1 only) Each season you are given the opportunity to sire a colt, which will be available to join your stable the following season. THE RACES. When you have completed your training for the week, select Races. You will then be given the opportunity to enter up to six selected races, details of which will be shown. A horse cannot be entered in a race of lower class; for example, a horse of class 25 can only enter races of class 25 or higher. A horse winning or coming second will improve its class; entering a race of a much higher class could result in a horse over-stretching itself and becoming injured, which results in a drop in class. Entry fees for each race are 10% of the prize money. When all races are completed, the week is over, and you are given a financial report. On the last week of each season, you will be offered the chance to enter the classic races. PLEASE NOTE Features listed apply to the Spectrum version; these may vary on other versions.
