ALPHA-NUM --------- LOAD "" ALPHA-SORT: sorts words alphabetically. The numbers of the words the program will sort depends on the length of the words specified. If you indicate too large a number your Spectrum will give the report "Out of Memory". NUM-SORT: sorts numbers in order and lists them numerically or reverse numerically. INDEX: sorts words and indexes them. This option could be used by authors and teachers (to sort student lists and their marks) or for collectors and other hobbyists. Small business men may find it useful for a number of tasks. REVIEW: words will be retained in ALPHASORT or INDEX and numbers in NUMSORT until cancelled (OptionB) or RUN or CLEAR is entered. REVIEW simply lists previously sorted data. UPDATE: enables user to add new words or numbers. COPY: If printer is available this Option will copy sorted data direct to the printer. BYTES: number of BYTES available in memory. CANCEL: cancels all previously sorted data. SAVE: save program and all sorted data. On Options 1-3 (and 5) it is not necessary to specify a definate quantity of words or numbers. You may have about 40 words to sort, therefore, specify 45, then if the last word is say 39, press Q and sorting process begins immediately. If you were wrong and the number was 47, then it will be necessary to use UPDATE to sort in the additional data. NOTE: do not specify a number greater than you may reasonably need as this will use up memory unnecessarily.
